"Polka creates a bit of magic for children and adults alike. Hopefully it's an introduction to something that will become valued for the whole of their lives. Long may Polka flourish in taking forward this vital work."
The Rt Hon Lord Smith of Finsbury, PC, Polka Patron
Over the years, Polka Theatre has introduced literally millions of young people to the joy and magic of theatre and we want to be certain that this opportunity to open young minds will remain.
We want to support the best of new writing talent, and both established and up and coming theatre practitioners. Most importantly, we must ensure that the next generation of theatre goers have a vibrant and exciting place to experience this unique art form.
There are many ways that you and your family can support Polka’s work:

GIFT AID
The majority of individual donations will be eligible for Gift Aid reclaim. If you pay income tax, please
complete the Gift Aid declaration on the donation form to enable us to gain an additional 28p for every pound you give, as we can claim the income tax back. If you pay tax at the higher rate, you will also be able to claim tax relief on your donation, making this an attractive way of showing your support.
PAYROLL GIVING
Making a regular donation directly from your payroll is the fastest growing method of tax-effective giving in this country. If you choose to give to Polka through your payroll, the donation is taken off your salary before you are taxed, and so the amount of income tax you pay each month is reduced. Therefore, if you are a standard rate taxpayer and you give £100 a month from your payroll, it will only cost you £77.80 (or £60 for a higher rate taxpayer). All you need to do is ask your employer about Payroll Giving.
MATCHING GIFTS
Many companies will match their employees' charitable contributions. Ask your employer about Matching Gifts.
SHARE GIVING
Over 12 million people in the UK own shares, and making a gift of shares is becoming a very popular and highly tax-effective way for donors with a portfolio of assets to support charities. If you donate shares to support our work, you can claim full tax relief to the market value of the shares on the day the gift is made. Please consider donating shares to Polka, and you can reduce your tax bill while helping us continue our valuable work. Even if you only have small holdings of shares, it is worth contacting us as these can be handled through Share Gift, a not-for-profit organisation which specialises in accepting small holdings, particularly those which are not worth selling because this would cost more than their value. Contact our Development Team on 020 8545 8327.
