Introduction

"The contribution Polka Theatre makes to the lives of children is incalculable. Since it began, countless children have been enchanted, educated, transported and challenged by the power of theatre. Hopefully they will grow to become future audiences, but more importantly, they will have discovered the power of the imagination" Dame Diana Rigg

As a registered charity Polka Theatre relies heavily on the support of trusts, individuals and companies to provide funding to carry out our valuable work every year.

You could be a part of helping Polka to continue as a flagship theatre for young people which is accessible, innovative and of exceptional quality.

"Polka know that young people matter.
That's why they matter.
That's why I am with them."

Benjamin Zephaniah, Polka Patron

WHERE THEATRE BEGINS...
Set in the heart of Wimbledon, Polka is a truly special venue, attracting audiences from across London and further afield. Every year over 100,000 children experience theatre at Polka – many of them for the first time. As well as great shows, Polka runs workshops, youth theatres, education projects and new writing programmes.

Polka has been creating theatre for over forty years and is committed to making theatre for children and young people, which is challenging, contemporary and of the highest quality. Our supporters – individuals, trusts, foundations and companies enable this work to happen, which helps Polka grow, develop and keep ticket prices affordable for everyone. Our members are vital to the continuing life and welfare of Polka. Their involvement and support gives them the opportunity to truly become part of the Polka family. Why not join too!

WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
As a registered charity, Polka must find £1.5 million every year. Most of our income comes from ticket sales and grants from public bodies. However, Polka still must find a further £250,000 a year to ensure it can continue to provide wonderful experiences for you and your family.

Many of you will have watched your own children or grandchildren mesmerised and inspired by Polka, heard songs from shows sung back, phrases and actions repeated or been inspired to read the book together or been swept along yourselves by the action in the play. As well as seeing a show, your children may have spent time reading in the book corner, exploring the secret garden, sitting in the café, playing in the playground or just running around. To ensure that we can continue to do this we need your help – help spark a child’s imagination, help Polka fly. Become a member today!

A BIG THANK YOU
Thank you from everyone at Polka for helping us continue to make great theatre, inspire our audiences and have fun!
