In the past, Polka has played host to a wide range of private events, performances and functions - from book launches and award ceremonies, to community group meetings and local arts performances. The theatre is often hired by commercial organisations looking for a comfortable, family-friendly and accessible venue.
Main Theatre (capacity 300)
The Main Theatre provides a comfortable cinema style raked seating. There is wheelchair access through our lift with wheelchair seating in the front row.
Adventure Theatre (capacity 30 – 50)
The Adventure Theatre makes a perfect venue for smaller productions, workshops and receptions. It can be set up for smaller presentations with a projector, screen and lighting adjustments. Additional chairs can be brought in for seating. Catering for small events can be held in the Adventure Theatre and opened up into the Main Exhibition Area for larger receptions.
Annexe (capacity 30 – 70)
The Annexe can host a variety of events and is an ideal space for rehearsals and workshops with wood floors and natural light. This space can accommodate up to 70 people standing and 30 people seated – perfect for presentations, workshops and receptions.
Exhibition Area (capacity 60-150)
The Main Exhibition Area is perfect for receptions or other events that require a large open space. It also makes a great party venue which can be booked after 4.30pm during the week and on Saturdays or all day on Sunday. To make your party one to remember we can also recommend a local caterer who specialises in bespoke parties for children and adults.
The charge for hiring a space includes a number of staff on hand, including a theatre manager, front of house attendants and technical staff if required.
Polka offers preferential hire rates for not-for-profit organisations, and community groups based in the borough of Merton.
