Music Magnet Centre at Polka
Merton Music Foundation and Polka Theatre are delighted to be working in partnership to launch a new ‘Music Magnet Centre’ at Polka Theatre. These participatory sessions are designed to provide a pathway into music-making, using a combination of singing, playing and other creative activities.
Play-a-Round music sessions are aimed at 2 – 4 year olds, accompanied by a parent or carer. The sessions will focus on building an understanding of the key musical elements of pitch, rhythm, tempo, dynamics, timbre, texture, and structure, through a range of practical fun interactive activities, including singing, playing, movement and simple drama games.
Play-a-Round sesssions run from Thurs 6 June- Thurs 4 July at 2pm-2.50pm or 3pm-3.50pm
Young Music Makers sessions are aimed at 8 – 11 year olds who are not yet learning a musical instrument. Participants will learn the basics of music reading, singing and use the musical elements to create their own compositions. They will also work as part of an ensemble, learning to play the ukulele!
Young Music Makers sessions run from Thurs 6 June- Thurs 4 July at 4pm - 5.15pm
