Polka Education has developed two exciting interactive Road Safety productions, which have toured annually to Merton’s primary schools since 2007, commissioned by Merton Council. They are available to be booked by local authorities across London.
Around the Corner
Year 2 pupils meet the puppet character, Spike, a six year old boy on his way to school with his Dad. Spike’s new friends, the audience, help to build the route, an over sized floor puzzle, with road markings and props to show different crossings or features on their journey. The class help Spike decide where is safe to cross and participate as motorists, presenting various hazards for Spike and his Dad on their journey to school.

Arrive Alive
This interactive workshop has been designed for Year 6 pupils, in preparation for their transition to secondary school. The workshop is led by two actors, who play the characters of Luke Bothways and Hi-Visability, and takes the form of a game show. Each class form teams and participate in question and answer rounds, role play and observation based activities. During the session the pupils consider a variety of issues relating to road safety practice including:
